When Baking is Your Passion…
What were you doing when you were 11 years old? Can you remember?
Perhaps, like me, you were reading Nancy Drew mystery books (they were the best!) Maybe you were busy making candles, or cooking. You may have been swimming, into sports, or starting a collection of your favorite odds and ends.
But, do you remember any passion that really stood out for you at age 11?
I don’t. I had lots of interests, but nothing that stood head and shoulders above any others.
Not so for 11-y-o Sarah Silvestri. Her passion is obvious, and she’s already using her passion to bring joy to the lives of others. Her story will inspire you.
Is life over, though, for those of us who didn’t find an obvious passion early in our childhood? No, of course not. As a matter of fact, some of us are just getting started.
Sometimes, it’s as simple as mustering the courage to go shopping and bring home absolutely everything you need to make your very first batch to bring to market. That’s what Jennifer Behar did. The rest is history.
Now, just suppose (we’re only supposing here, okay?) you were to go pick up the supplies you need to make your dream happen. Let’s suppose you did this today.
What would be on your shopping list? Feel free to post it in the comments section below.

I printed the 2 articles (about Sarah and Jennifer) out for my husband. He loves to cook and bake so they are directly related to his passions. And of course the shopping list exercise is applicable to all of us.

K.C.~ So good to see you again!
Glad you were inspired. (Made me check my shopping list again, I can tell you! I still have a few things to add, lol.)

Hi, Julinda!
It’s all about the ‘possibilities’ ~ isn’t it? I’m glad your husband has a champion in you, Julinda!
P.S. What’s his favorite thing to create in the kitchen? Do relatives and friends put in a *special request* for any of his favorites during the holidays and special occasions? Something to chew on… (smile)

Dar,
Thank you for showing us how we can turn our passion into something bigger than just something fun to do. It inspired me… to think of what could be…. to muster courage…. to act….
Time to put the ink to the paper and make that list!

Thanks for the articles. I love this blog because it’s so specific to what I’m in search of –my own creative career despite being an introvert! Your shopping list exercise made me realize I don’t need to go shopping, I already have the tools to write, I just don’t do it enough yet!

Hi, Cee! Your beautiful candles inspire me to get moving on my soaps! (Your ‘Pie in a Dish’ candle would smell heavenly on this cold winter day here!)
It’s amazing, isn’t it… As we’re inspired, we all, in turn, inspire each other. I love it.

Hi, Carolann! You’re so very welcome.
Yes, we introverts need a warm place to learn, to share, to grow, to hash out our dreams ~ and to take those first, tentative steps… (I’m so glad you’re here!)
Leo over at WritetoDone.com ( http://writetodone.com/category/habits/ ) has some awesome articles you may enjoy. (I’ve read them 3 times each already because they’re so inspiring.)
Carolann, which topic makes your heart beat just a little bit faster when you think about putting your pen to paper?

Hi Dar,
Thanks for the link to writetodone.com. I also looked at your article on distractions and lately have come to realize that a major time-consuming distraction for me is reading too much advice and info in magazines, newspapers, books and the internet, mainly on finances, fulfillment in work, general “self-improvement” stuff. Currently I am working on a book of quotations I’ve collected over the years. My goal is to finish it within a few months and start a new book that’s barely at the seedling stage in my mind!

Hi, Carolann! Yes, those of us who love to learn often spend a lot of time on our quest for knowledge.
(I’m thinning down my subscriptions as we speak, lol.)
Congratulations on your book ~ please touch base now and then and let us know how you’re doing with your book(s). You GO, girl!

Hi Dar,
I know what you mean about thinning down subscriptions–the more I have the more “obligation” I set up for myself to take the time to go through them! Freedom is one of my greatest values, and it’s interesting to realize that there’s still a lot more freedom I can create for myself by focusing on the things that mean the most to me or are most fun and letting go of the rest.
Thanks for the encouragement. I hope you’re having fun with your soaps!

Hi, Carolann!
I love that you’ve identified freedom as one of your values. Very insightful!
I love, too, that you see a clear vision to achieving even more freedom for yourself. Ah, the sounds of freedom…
Letting go of the rest can be one of the biggest challenges (I confess, it’s a lesson I’m still learning.)
You bring encouragement to all who visit here. Keep up the great work you’re doing, Carolann!
