When You Love to Type…
Back when I took my first typing class (let’s just say it was quite a while ago, lol) I had no idea what the future held for me. Like any teen, I dreamed of several wonderful, exotic careers. I didn’t pursue any of them, though, because shyness was a major hurdle back then…

I did, however, fall in love with something totally non-exotic: typing. And, over the years, some of the offices I worked in were so cold that my fingers slid between the little round keys day after day… (yes, it was a manual typewriter!)
Techology has changed over the years, and keyboards are much more comfortable nowadays (thank the heavens).
Years later, though, I wondered how I could create an income stream doing something I love to do. Something I could do from home.
Then, the online world exploded, bringing new opportunities we hadn’t dreamed of 30+ years ago. Because I love to type, I found a way to transcribe from home (as one of several income streams). I like the variety, and it’s a good strategy, because if one income stream slows, you still have others to work with.
Transcription has become a portable career for me. I’m able to transcribe while riding as a passenger in a vehicle during long trips, too. I simply take my transcription tools with me when traveling. I like the flexibility. And, it’s something I couldn’t even have imagined back in high school.
Sitting at a desk typing (or in a vehicle~smile) is not for everyone. While it’s not what I’d call an exotic career, the portability makes up well for that. (I’ve posted a review on the basics of doing transcription work from home for those interested in learning more).

I can’t help but wonder what technology marvels lie just over the horizon. But for now, can you picture combining something you love with more recent technology? What might it look like?
As always, I invite you to add your thoughts in the comments section. ![]()
