Does It Seem Hard to Find Work You Can Love?
I was talking with a friend this week about ‘changing course.’ She’s ready to find new work. Work she can love, that is.
She no longer wants an ‘in-the-box’ job. She’s ready to tune into the world of possibilities out there. But, what exactly does ‘tuning in’ have to do with finding work you can love?
Well, sometimes, we get so used to following all the rules *in the box* that we miss the exciting possibilities right under our noses. They quietly slip right by us.
Can you relate?
Here’s a super simple, safe way to tune in and begin to get your feet wet…
The Easy Way to Find Work You Can Love
1. Do a Google search for scheduled events, fairs or activities in your area related to your new business idea, topic or field you’re interested in (like health foods, for example).
2. Print out and choose a few events to attend. Many company events inviting the public to attend will be free.
3. Take time to ask the staff, host or volunteers how they got started in their field. You’ll be surprised at the insider tips or bits of wisdom you can gain.
4. Notice what they *don’t* offer, or provide. Is there a niche you could carve for yourself that might fit in to that particular field or industry? (Watch for the lightbulb moments you’ll have in the days and weeks to come.)
5. Place yourself on their mailing or ezine list, whether they’re online or off. It will help you form ideas on potential future services or products you might create or offer.
There you go. Fun and easy.
