Weaving An Income Stream for Yourself

I spotted The Spider on the second day of my visit to the farm. (I named him Yellow Spot, as his black torso was dotted with yellow.) I’m not fond of spiders. But, I saw something there I wanted to share with you…
You see, he had woven a huge web, attaching it onto some climbing flowers on the post, just inside the porch.
Yellow Spot had a mighty feast over the next few days (I was watching him in the early morning hours) with an assortment of critters that landed in his web. I actually watched him get a fat little yellow belly from his numerous morsels.
I wondered if he ever thought of his variety of critters as a smorgasbord. As in, hmmm… How about a gnat for breakfast? And a roly-poly for lunch? Shall I save the cricket in case company drops by later? (just kidding, lol)
Seriously, though. It got me thinking…
What if we, as humans, learned to cast a net as wide and broad as Yellow Spot’s?
What if, instead of the one main course (one main job) we allowed ourselves to enjoy a few different ways to create our income?
What if we were bold, and created two — or (dare I say it?) three ways to create the income we need?
As in, instead of a 9 to 5 that we’re bored with, or we no longer enjoy — what if we created a few trickles of income doing work we love?
Now, wouldn’t that be nice? To actually enjoy the time we spend working? Delighting ourselves in our own little smorgasbord?
Yellow Spot knows how to do it. He enjoys a daily feast, because the bigger his web, the more critters he’s likely to attract.
And the best part of all? He doesn’t have to wait for the weekend to roll around before he can enjoy himself away from work. His work is part of his daily life, and he’s having a blast.
How about you? Can you picture your own little smorgasbord, doing work you enjoy?
What new income stream could you begin weaving today?

Hi, Julinda! Welcome!
First, I want to apologize for my delay in posting your comment, and responding to you. You see, I had set up a sp*am filter to catch the 100’s of sp*am comments coming thru. Unfortunately, it hid your comment in there as well. So, please forgive me for my delay.
Yes, isn’t it wonderful to give our minds the freedom to consider other options? To think about what’s really possible for us? I like to think of it as a detour off the beaten path. How energizing!
Thanks for saying hello, Julinda. It’s nice to ‘meet’ you!

I’ve thought about your suggestion of having more than one job of different things that we enjoy rather than having one main job that is boring all day, that we don’t enjoy. The problem is that my main job that I hate is the one that provides me with pension at retirement. It’s a government job. If I leave it, I lose my pension. My pension doesn’t transfer to the private industry.

Hi, Tammy
Thanks so much for your post! I see what you’re saying. When you’ve made a decision to stay in a job you dislike, it becomes even more important to make sure you’re doing something you truly enjoy — on your time off — whether or not it pays.
Do you have something you can look forward to, that motivates you to get through the day/week/month? If not, it would make a wonderful gift to give yourself!
Nice to meet you, Tammy.
