But, I Don’t Have a Creative Bone in My Body!
Does that sound familiar? I hear it often. And, to be honest, it’s something I used to say, too.
It is easy to think we’re not creative unless we have earth-shattering moments that shout, “Hey, look at me! Is that creative, or what!?!”
The thing is, sometimes we’re so close to our creative moments that we don’t recognize what’s right ‘under our nose.’
You are creative when…
- You find a way to accomplish the *important* things in your life. Those things that mean a lot to you, despite the crazy busy world we live in.
- You take the ’scary’ out of something, so that others can learn it in a fun, new way.
- You can actually turn back-to-school shopping into a fun thing, like K.C. did. (See Comments below for a fun story as well.)
It’s true, not every creative thought will lead to creative work you can love. I can’t help but think, though, that learning to recognize each of our creative moments will lead to finding those *big* moments…
What do you think?

On *turning a challenge into fun,* I wanted to share a quick story with you. My nephew ‘C’ (I think 11-y-o at the time) was staying overnight. I asked him to hop in the shower, and he (politely) told me he really didn’t want to.
Now, I didn’t want to bring ‘C’ home all ‘icky’ next day, lol. As I was deciding just how to deal with it, he came up with his own solution: He’d do it if we competed to see who could take the ‘quickest’ shower. (Yes, of course he won!) I thought ‘C’ was brilliant. I still do.
